The Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany no longer advises against travel to Dubai or the United Arab Emirates as a whole. This also applies to the Gulf states of Oman, Bahrain and Qatar.

Due to the war between Iran and the US, Germany had issued a travel warning for the Gulf region from the end of February 2026; following initial ceasefire agreements in early May, it had scaled this down and was only ‘strongly’ advising against travel there. Now, in the wake of the current peace negotiations, this security advisory for the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar has also been lifted. The security situation in these countries is now deemed stable enough that tourist travel to the region is no longer discouraged. However, the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany still points out that there remains a risk “that the security situation in the region could deteriorate”.

Numerous events planes

The region welcomes the decision. A spokesperson for the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) said: “The latest announcements reflect the positive developments we are seeing across the region. Over the past few months, we have realised that many visitors have been waiting for clarity before finalising their travel plans. For us in Dubai, the safety of our residents and visitors has been, is and will remain our top priority,” said Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Visit Dubai).

Accordingly, hotels, restaurants, shopping destinations and transport networks in Dubai are open. Numerous events, trade fairs and new openings are planned for the coming weeks and months. Emirates is already operating 97 per cent of its global route network from Dubai International Airport (DXB) and currently flies to 138 destinations in 73 countries.
